Further info about 5 famous people who currently live with diabetes:

1. Halle BerryHalle Berry was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes after falling into a coma in the year 2007. Halle Berry was only 22 at the time when she found out that she had diabetes. She did something that most people do not do. She slowly got her body off of taking insulin. Later tests showed that Halle Berry had type 2 diabetes, which is a lot less harsh than type 1. Stars like Halle Berry may seem perfect but disorders and diseases do not choose the person in which they effect.
2. Nick JonasWho would have thought that one of the brothers suffers from diabetes? Nick Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was younger. Nick had a blood sugar level of around 700. The normal blood sugar level ranges from 70 to 120. A blood sugar level of 700 is enough to kill a person or make them fall into a coma. Nick now knows how to manage his diabetes and he also donates money and his time to helping different organizations that support finding cures for diabetes.
3. Salma HayekSalma Hayek developed diabetes while being pregnant with her daughter Valentina. Gestational diabetes is what pregnant women get. This type of diabetes usually goes away after the child had been birthed but new studies show that people who get this type of diabetes through pregnancy are 60-percent more likely to get type 1 or type 2 diabetes within the next 10 to 20 years.
4. Tommy LeeTommy Lee is a Motley Crue drummer that has type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is usually associated with obesity but in very few cases this type of diabetes can happen to people who are not obese. Almost 15-percent of the people with type 2 diabetes are not over weight at all. Salma Hayek’s diabetes went away after child birth and hopefully it will not come back.
5. Jay CutlerJay Cutler is an NFL quarterback who suffers from type 1 diabetes. He was diagnosed when he was losing weight rapidly and realized that we had become extremely tired. He began treatment right away and is now back to feeling and playing like his normal self.

Conclusion

Diabetes knows no boundaries. Whether we are discussing persons of fame, rich celebrities, musicians, politicians, scientists or other notables, this disease will continue to impact people in all walks of life.
